There's a remake of the original Prince of Persia at XBox Live for d/l, and I must admit, that it looks very nice.

That does look very nice indeed. There have been some remakes of the original PoP over the years including the Amiga, SNES and mobile phone versions, but none have looked anything like this new version. Lets just hope they retained the original gameplay and simple control mechanics.
BTW, do you have a 360 yet?

Nope, and if I'll purchase a new console, it will definitely be the PS3. Talked to a friend this morning who has one. He's happy with it, and he plays a lot online, which he didn't do before.
The same here. I will definitely be purchasing a PS3 later this year, once some mod chips are available
Although as the system is now pretty much completely firmware based software hacks may be the solution for the PS3, much like the PSP, so we could be seeing free hacked firmware solutions instead of needed to hardware mod. Lets hope so.

Yeah, that seems to be the way. But I have nothing against hard mods, as long as they work. Once built in, and work fine, they can also be updated via firmware.
That is very true, as is the case with the later PS2 mod chips and the Wii chips.
The only downside for the PS3, as in the case of the PSP, is that Sony are using the firmware to add a lot of additional features over time. This also means that many games released after a big firmware upgrade will take advantage of new features and not work with older firmware revisions.
If a hardware mod chip were used in the PS3, any future firmware updates could disable the mod chip or even render the system unusable, due to security features added to block them or a change in the way the firmware works. With software firmware hacking this danger is removed as the latest firmware can be hacked to find exploits, much in the same was as the PSP custom firmwares.
