    That is the way.

We are all getting older and less tolerant. I tend to pick the easy setting on a lot of games these days when I'm just interested in seeing the game through or to experience the story. I really can't be bothered with over challenging gameplay that requires practice!

Plus in those games there's always the lack of skill. And I don't wanna replay a level over and over again. Reason I don't play From Software games. Almost played through Elden Ring though, with invincibility and unlimited jump, so I could get anywhere on the map I wanted without restrictions.

@DC. From Games are way too hard for me. I bought the remake of Demon's Souls on the PS5 and couldn't even get past the first boss and after so many attempts I gave up. Not played it again since. It is tempting to cheat just to see the whole game because I really like the style and the enemies. Just not the infuriatingly hard difficulty. Feels like a chore rather than a game.

Same here. I played the first dark Souls, died and started from beginning. Ok, I thought perhaps I didn't pass the checkpoint yet. At some point I got further, died, had to start from the beginning, started to think wtf

Same in Bloodborne, and like you say, I like the style very much, even more in Bloodborne, it's so dark and enemy design is just up my alley. But boy, did I get far, not in the slightest.

Someone I work with plays all these games. A week after their last game came out he told me he had completed it and had really enjoyed it. I thought WTF how? Looked at his Playstation account and sure enough he had the trophies to prove he had. How? Is it just something we are not getting or understanding?

And like you say, it drops you back way too far if you die. Rather than just having to redo the section you just failed at you have to go through the whole thing again evry time which is really tedious. Yes it gets easier each time as you get to know the area and where each enemy is located and their movement and attack patterns. This is very much like old school games with minimal lives like arcade machines and platform games. You had to just keep plugging away at the same level, getting a bit further each time until you finally got to the end of the level (and were then instantly killed by the end of level boss). Very much the same here. I never found overly difficult platform games that fun either. That's why I liked Superfrog, Mario and Shadow of the Beast 3 so much, because they were less about learning it all to eventually get to the end, and more about just enjoying the levels and having fun.

I am tempted now to play though Demon's Souls with every cheat on just to see the whole game and enjoy it without the stupid challenge.
