The Hotel you are in is just east of The Ivy City Garden which leads into Liverpool Street Station.

You should have a fab time. If you have the time, (& it's a must see event) you will need a full day at the Science Museum. - From where you're staying, don't go too far East out of daylight hours.

Years ago, the company I worked for at the time hung all the curtain cladding to the surrounding buildings between the Station & all around the Ivy Garden. I spent 7 months on the site fitting cladding & sun screens along the verandas.
Back then, the huge circular area was frozen up as an ice rink in Winter. Not sure if they do this now.

Check out the Lloyds Bank building too on Bishopsgate, which is on the corner of the Ivy City Garden. - Same company btw.

Science Museum is a must. It does have so much to see. Plus is Cindy's to the Natural history museum.

And remember nearly all museums and art galleries are free in London. The Design museum is also worth seeing. Depends how much you like art, but the National gallery at Trafalgar square houses some of the most famous works of art in the world.

Want a day out of London. If you like Harry Potter go there. You won't be disappointed. But if in Central London I would just stay there as so much to do. Theatre shows, places to eat, museums, art galleries, exhibitions.

London Zoo. London auarium. Salvador Dali museum. Tower Bridge. Buckingham palace.

I highly recommend you try to visit the Sky Garden.

So what do you mean by that? Dangerous area?

East London can be a bit dodgy, but it's not too bad.

For me the bigger factors are that it's dirty, there's not much to do there, and can be further out (and a longer tube ride) than it may seem on a map. East London is to me just a bit of a shitty area. Canary Wharf, and the O2 (millenium dome, on the Greenwich peninsula) are OK if you want to see modern entertainment complexes. Greenwich park is nice and the observatory and musuem are neat.

When I went to Mile End (I went to look at a uni close by) it was a shit hole. Maybe it's changed in the almost 25 years since.

I think they tidied it up quite a bit begot the 2012 Olympics but I've not been in that area since then.

Best to stick to central London zones 1 and 2. Lots to do there.

Are there any good arcades?

I'm not sure any more. My all time favourite arcade at the Trocadero centre that was original Segaworld closed a while back. There's one called Heart of Gaming but I've not been there.

You might want to visit Crazy Thumbs in South West London, which is a big retro place.

Games and Gadgets in South East London too.

There used to be a huge retro gaming store in Central London. I forget the name but can't find it when I google so it might be gone now. It was the oldest computer store in the UK. But it was in Tottenham court road and that's where most computer and video game stores are.

From what I remember of the place , they would have to clean it up a LOT , and I mean a hell of a lot, for it not to be shit.

Yesterday we extended our stay until the 15th. We're gonna stay the last 4 nights in the Taj 51 hotel (https://www.taj51buckinghamgate.co.uk/) which is located in Westminster.
