    Vampire survivor

Have any of you tried this game yet?

I hadn't bothered before now, but with it winning so many awards and getting good reviews I thought I would give it a try. It's on offer in the PlayStation store for about £3 at the moment, but is completely free on Android (with ads) and is also on Xbox gamepass.

I decided to try it out via Gamepass cloud on my Steam Deck and it runs perfectly. I also thought it would be ideal for the handheld with its retro style graphics and controls. I can't see touchscreen on a phone or tablet working quite as well, but I will test it out.

Very simple and basic game. Your character is fending of hordes of enemies and you just have to survive for as long as you can. You don't actually shoot as this is automatic like having autofire. You just move. Kills drop coins you collect to unlock powerups. Strong weapons, armour etc that you can then level up.

Really simple game but it does get strangely addictive. Trying to beat your times and building up your powerful to clear more enemies. And trying not to get stuck within a closing horde of enemies.

Worth a play for free, but unsure of it's worth paying for. Reminds of classic arcade games from the 80s where it was simple but addictive.

If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!

Addictive for 5 minutes perhaps then meh.

And why wouldn't it run on the deck, it would probably run on an Amiga

Regarding the Steam Deck I meant more the screensize for the retro style graphics, rather then being able to run it. As you know all retro games still look great on smaller handheld screens. Plus the physical controls vs touchscreen for games that speed up are a must.

Not tested it on Android yet but using touch controls always annoy me in most games, except strangely Minecraft where I actually prefer it over PC or console versions.
