    someone got my password

    Hi.
My password in classicamiga as i remember is unique, i don't use it anywhere else.
I receive an email, spam maybe, saying that they got my password, and they show it on the email and it's correct.
How did they get it? They say they used keyboard record software and they filmed me watching porn, and bla bla bla if i don't pay 1200 dolars they will show the video to everyone in my contact list.

I am calm, as i don't watch porn, or at least nothing that i could not be be filmed, but i am concerned in how they got my password, it is a 8 digit and it would be difficult to generate mails random to see if anything would match. The email vs password is correct. And i got this email 2 days after start using opera... any connection?
Should it be something in CA website that was hacked?
Just a warn to you all, you should change your password, just in case.

    Is it one of these?

    http://forum.classicamiga.com/forum/...Blackmail-spam

If so, its nothing to be worried about, but you should change your password to be on the safe side. Its difficult to know for sure where they will have got your password from. It could have somehow been extracted from classicamiga, or it could have been elsewhere if you've used it elsewhere.

Try putting your email addresses into https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see if they are linked to any well known data breaches.

    Hi Tiago.

I have no such Email & my password is Automatic when I log in here. I didn't tell Chrome to save my password, just used the option to always remember me. Probably the same thing & possibly Cookie based, but I don't know how this stuff works tbh.

I'd be guessing you had or have an infection such as a Trojan Virus & these nasty's look for key strokes after latching onto your Email account. I expect the Email you got will just be a Generic layout reply in an effort to partially scare you. If it quotes your Password, yeah..... you're infected. Your Solicitation on Pr0n Sites is probably where you got it from. - Meh, I'm surprised I'm not Bombed out! - No resident Virus checker other than Windows 10 here.

    Go to:

    https://www.trendmicro.com/en_us/for...housecall.html

& do an online check. You can even do a Custom Scan for specific folders, which I usually do after Torrenting something, especially if there are Key Gen's or .EXE's to patch the install of what you downloaded.

Download Trend's .EXE file for your OS & run it. It will also download the latest updates before performing the scan on the folders you select or allow Trend to scan by default.

Also, I don't run an Email Client on my rig. I Log In & browse Email via Chrome.

    Not that email, similar.
The password they got is a very old one. I used it here in CA and no where else. I just used it in website that need to sign in.
I dont use it for email or other stuff.
I run windows 10 security and didnt got anything.
    I should try other software.

    I went check this:
Try putting your email addresses into https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see if they are linked to any well known data breaches.

and yes my email is here. I have an account in 3 or 4 websites that were breached. So i guess they get my password from one of this.

Gah eh! - FuX0rd remotely! - Just a thought Tiago.....

If you have to have "Cloud" storage, did you not consider Microsoft OneDrive?

OneDrive gives you 5GB for free or 50GB for two Bucks a month. - Alternatively, get Office 365 which gives you 1TB for up to 5 users.

Another option is to have a NAS Box which you can connect to from anywhere in the World when set up. Aside from the annoyance of Slowness when manipulating files, NAS works great & you can FTP to it so easily.
I use Dopus on my PeeCee (Old School Amiga Die-Hard nut, sry) and back up all my important stuff via FTP over my home network.

NAS are expensive initially but it's a great way to run any backed up Data via your Media Center to any of your Smart/Networked Display Panels around the home. I currently have 2 x 3TB drives in Mirror for all my important files & 2 x 4TB for my Movies.

When I change my CPU & Mobo (Now 7 years old), I am considering building a Server from the old components. File Transfers across my Gigabit Network average about 35Mb/sec when writing to NAS. Reading from NAS to PC is about 85Mb/sec.
A Server would yield far better Write times, but it's all horses for courses.

I've had quite a few of these emails in the last year or so asking for money and stating a password. The password is always the same, and it's an old password I used to use when I had to register on any generic sites I didn't care about. These are often pulled from insecure sites, and these lists of passwords are very old and still doing the rounds with spammers.

If the password matches here please change your CA password just to be safe.

If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!
