I noticed a post box in Doncaster the other day which had a sticker on it which said "Priority Post Box; Helping the NHS". Any idea what that is in aid of? I'm sure the post box was no where near any NHS facilities.

How is everyone doing Coronavirus wise? We ended up taking Grandma for a test the other week. Fortunately she didn't have it. My mother works in a hospital, and they are having all the staff wear face masks all day. Now everyone is getting irritated skin and struggles to breathe, the management is moaning about how much it is costing them to have each member of staff get through several disposable masks per day, and the patients are leaving them lying around because they've not provided dustbins for them.

I'm still avoiding most shops, although I did venture into the food market at Doncaster yesterday to buy some sausages. I wasn't sure what that would be like as it is quite cramped in there. Fortunately it wasn't busy enough for people to be breathing down your neck.

An update from the land down under:

We were pretty much on top of this whole situation, new cases were on the decline across the country, my state in particular had no new cases at all. All of a sudden, there's been a massive spike in our sister state (Victoria) and for some reason, closing the borders once more in an effort to contain the spread. But of course, human nature has led to a bunch of idiots jumping restrictions and of course those are the people that have it. Once again, we have active cases, and a couple in my local area.

I've been working remotely since the start of March and I'm scheduled to go back to the office (however, in a split capacity) in just over a week; really hoping it doesn't flare up again...

How's everyone managed with Lockdown No 2? Judging by the number of people around, I think most people are ignoring it. I certainly am, although with so many business closures there's not a lot to go out for anyway.

Here's a video I made featuring some people's opinions of the situation:

Yes, even I have a YouTube channel these days . Though, naturally, the video was made on MiniDV tape .

Steve mate, Covid 19 definitely is real. I know people that have had it badly and one who died! The only reason many more have not come down badly with it are the lockdowns. But there have still been over 61k deaths in the UK alone.

To state you are ignoring it is stupidity. And I have to say I really wouldn't trust the judgement of many of the people in your video. Their IQs were not convincing to be polite.

The only way to get through this and out the other side is to follow government advice. To socially distance, wear a mask and wash your hands. Until everyone is vaccinated this won't end. And if too many people continue to ignore rules it will esculate again. Personally I think no one should be going out socialising anywhere. There is no need. I just don't get why people are so desperate to sit in a pub and risk not just their own lives, but potentially passing the virus on to someone who is susceptible to it.

I believe viral load is also a key factor in how badly someone comes down with the virus. If you only make contact with one infected person you stand a better chance of only having mild symptoms. However if you are exposed to multiple carriers you will contract a higher viral load because you have contracted multiple instances. This would explain why front line health professionals have suffered worse and sometimes fatal symptoms. Same in care homes.

I also do not understand why so many are believing the false news antivaxer rubbish that's circulating. Even as far as claiming 5G phone masks will be linked to microchips in the vaccines. Or even that these vaccines will alter our DNA for a far bigger more sinister reason. I mean why are people believing this rubbish?

The other one that the virus is a hoax and it's a global conspiracy regarding a big global economic reset. WTF!

If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!

Mark Steele seems to be the main proponent of the 5G thing. He is a self proclaimed "weapons expert" who served time in prison for shooting a young girl, and has a degree in psychology. Maybe the psychology degree is why he is able to be a good scammer. He certainly isn't an electronic engineer or a medical doctor. I hear his political party is quite profitable.

I wasted a few seconds of MiniDV tape on him when he was in Sheffield in September: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Jt5uaviOn8

This is because some big businesses such as supermarkets, Amazon, and so on, have done incredibly well out of this, while many smaller businesses have been forced to close by the government, leaving people with no job and no income. It may not be a conspiracy, but some people are certainly taking advantage.

Just announced many more areas in the south of England are going into tier 3. I therefore fully expect the current Christmas relaxing of restrictions will come under heavier scrutiny next week and I wouldn't be surprised if it changes to stronger restrictions.

Thankfully both my region, Arun, and my parents region in Hampshire/New Forest both remain in tier 2. I only just avoided tier 3. East Sussex has gone into it, which is the other side of the same county. I expect East Sussex got worse because of Brighton, hastings and a few other places people visit often from London and spread the virus. My region's infection rate has actually gone down.

Stay safe everyone and hope you manage to enjoy Christmas. We are just staying within the same support bubble we have been in anyway, with my family visiting my mother in law every week to take care of her and do jobs for her, and my parents who don't get to see anyone else. Other than work we are pretty much avoiding anyone else again at the moment.

If we now have Tier 4 in SE England, wtf is going on in places like Spain?

The first Lock Down should never have been lifted.

Yes, it is real. My boss got covid, and lost all taste of food. It was 4 or 5 months ago, he is ok now, don't have covid but only recover 90% of food taste.
One of my concerns is that people that are vaccinated first may tend to think: I am protected now, i can go out to everyplace and do whatever i want. Between the first and the last people to be vaccinated by pass some time... in that time we must keep safe.
