    Goldeneye remastered on its way!

You read that right. The most famous N64 game Goldeneye is finally getting remastered. It will be available on Nintendo Switch and Xbox Gamepass.

Apparently licensing issues have stopped it being rereleased until now.

It will get upgraded graphics and on the Switch will support online multiplayer. The Xbox version won't support online multiplayer though.

I'm HYPED for this. I'm a sucker for a bit of nostalgia and for me, video games don't come much more nostalgic than that.

However, without the intense crucible of gaming pressure that was me and a big number of my 17 year old mates bunking off college to play this, it won't be quite the same.

The local 4 player splitscreen also added to the atmosphere. It won't have the same feel playing online multiplayer on a Switch. The Xbox version will be offering the splitscreen still though.

There's also the issue that anyone younger than us won't really get the same feeling and connection about Goldeneye or Bond too.

And had Bond actually finally had its day as a franchise? With his death at the end of the last film, and now the passing of the Queen, it feels like the whole era has ended.

I never liked FPS back in the day, gameplay was clunky and graphics always looked horrible. So indeed, I'm not very excited.

With Goldeneye it was the splitscreen multiplayer that made it great. Single player not so much if you were a PC gamer as the N64 controller wasn't the greatest, but the game was well designed.

Split screen multiplayer, especially with a big group (we often had 6 or 7 there, winner stays on for next round - poor players got the double disadvantage of having to use the crappy MadCatz controller), was intense.

Trash talking, surprise outcomes, bragging rights... red-hot competition. Honestly if you weren't playing it that way you were playing it wrong and missing out.
