    Write so:

    If the product is 150:
    150 x 15% = 22,5 then 22,5 X 20% = 4,5
    150 - 22,5 - 4,5 = 123 this should be the value right?

    But they did:
    150 - (300 x 15% X 20%)

    so
    300 x 15% x 20%

    300 x 15% = 45 then 45 x 20% = 9

    so
    150 - 45 - 9 = 96

They just started from 300 instead of 150.... is that it?

    Wtf?

Inital agreed sale amount was £150.

"Sales through our website are subject to a 15% commission. ****’s commission for this sale is 45 GBP, the VAT (20%) amounts to 9 GBP and you have earned 96 GBP."
    Easy.....

    150 - 96 = £54

    54 - 9 = £45

And if it still doesn't work for you:
