SimPit - The ultimate gaming setup! This is Amazing!!!

Have any of you heard of SimPit? http://www.simpit.co.nz/

They create immersive gaming display and cockpit set-ups for the home user, and although expensive are within reach of the average gamer with a good job as they come in at under AUS$4K.

One very impressive demo just released is a new one showing Elite Dangerous running in 8K resolution (yes you read that correctly).

    Now check this out:

Obviously you are not restricted to just playing Elite. They have demos showing racing games such as Asseto Corsa and Project Cars running, Flight Sims such as DCS World and Star Citizen.

    An Assetto Corsa setup:

Finally check out this Tatan 6K Flight Sim setup.

If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!

Truly awesome. But if you check the price for the Icarus 270, the price is fairly ok, with raw MDF, but you will need 3 beamers!! What's the SimPit Warp?

They did a more basic setup that utilises 3 flat panel dsplays. There's a video showing a smaller central screen and 2 larger screens at the side for a flight sim so you could look out at either side to see more scenery. Looked really good and would still give a pretty decent immersion level.

Now sure what the Warp is. They have a lot of different levels of cabinet. The Icarus Avenger is being used for Elite. You also have the Centurion and Titan.

It might be their top of the range immersion thing, but graphic cards still don't have enough wallop to run 4K screens smoothly at decent FPS, never mind 6K screens.

....& @ 35,000 Bucks, it isn't really within the grasp of your average salary, as their website also proclaims. Meh all round tbh!

Whilst the still pic on OP looks fab with the space station all lit up, the Asteroid film is jerking horribly wrong. Almost like watching a movie in Interlaced mode rather than Progressive.

The Flight sim & the racing sim do look very different though, but I guess if Simon Cowell can spend £60,000 on each of his two dogs having them cloned, this would be pocket money for the likes of him.

The problem with 4K is that most displays are current stuck at 30Hz maximum refresh rate, which is fine for film, but not for gaming.

SimPit are compensating for this by using multiple projectors in their setups.

Yes it's a bit jerky in the Elite video, but it is a bit anyway in the game due to how the game mechanics work so it's not such an issue.
