    Struck down by man flu

It's that time of year when all the horrible germs surface. I've had a flu thing since Tuesday.

Boiling hot and sweating, but shivering at same time, coughing up blood, migraine headache right behind my eyes, really bad cough. Affected my asthma badly too.

Think the worst was yesterday. Don't feel quite as bad today, but still really ill. No energy to even walk downstairs.

    Any one else had anything?

My son's also had a bad cough and runny nose for a while.

A beer a day keeps the doctor away
    a brandy also helps....

    Wish you a fast recovery

: lol: Other than sharing a bottle of wine over dinner, a couple bottles of beer with a curry, or a couple pints on a summers day, I really don't drink much any more.

Just took temperature. Up to 39!

@ 39 Deg, you either need to see a Doc or get a decent thermometer.

    Nope, just grab some Guinness...
When i was in England in 95, i drank a lot of those.
How do you call? A "pint" ? isn't it? I can't remember correctly
can i say "A pint of Guiness?" i think i asked for half-pint... because the pub had to many brands, so i could tast them all

Yes, is a Pint of Guinness.

You really should visit the UK again as pubs have generally improved, especially country pubs, often having guest beers and real ales from local regional breweries to try

Do they have any English run pubs in Portugal, as they do in Spain?

Back to Guinness, I discovered only more recently that they sell Dublin brewed Guinness in cans over here now, and it does taste better than England brewed Guinness, because the water is different. I still need to find a good supplier of it though before Christmas.

well, we have Irish Pubs. But it's just the name they invented. Decoration, style and drinks do cover Irish,Scottish or English Pubs.
    I would say it's a mix of this 3
Guinness it's in any "Irish" Pub.

Here it's one, not far from my home

Re: Struck down by man flu

Are any of them any good? Atmosphere?

Do they get a lot of ex pat English in them, especially when the football is on? Something I avoid are pubs with big screens and advertising sports.

I tend to hate the more commercial chain type pubs in the UK too as they are all too clinical and genetic. I much prefer the rural country pubs that are thatched roofed buildings dating back 400+ years, a roaring fire, friendly local self owned landlord, great food made from local produce, and a friendly atmosphere. We've quite a few like that around Chichester. Many with well know chefs with award winning restaurants. Some do amazing food, and due to the location some specialise in locally caught sea food. The Crab and Lobster is one of the best a few miles from me. Their lobster thermodore (sp?) is amazing, as is their spiced crab. A bit expensive so we only go on special occasions, this year for our wedding anniversary in August.
