I noticed this morning an extra game has suddenly appeared in my Steam account.

Viking: Battle For Asgard

Digging around a bit I noticed it is now included as part of the Total War Collection (which I already own). The game standalone is £9.99 so that's a nice free addition.

I didn't know anything about the game, so a quick look around reveals it was released 4 years ago on consoles and has taken this long to port to the PC, and with better visuals and more content it looks very nice from the screenshots. Not had chance to play it yet. Originally meant as the first dedicated console release in the Total War series.

Has anyone played this in the past? Any good? It's downloading now so will give it a play a bit later. Reviews for the original console PS3/360 versions were average, with none of them really praising it. But a lot of gamers seem to like it more than the reviewers did, and I tend to believe gamers views more.

I wonder why Steam never advertised it was being added, or that Total War collection owners were going to get it.
