I as just reading something about the Crysis developer, Crytek, opening a video games studio in China.

Do you think such a move is a good idea?

To put this into context, consider this. Many video games consoles are built in mainland China, but the sale of them has been officially banned their since 2000. Therefore Chinese people don't have full understanding of the gaming market... relying solely on PC development.

I can see this move as a way for Crytek to farm out labour intensive parts of their game development to reduce costs.

It seems the days of games development and creating as an art form with enthusiasm for the platform and the heart of soul of the developer in their games is in real danger of becoming lost.

What next? Indian call centre representatives embedded in new games, where the game automatically calls them up when you get stuck or die?
