I never was into Doom like games, not then, and definitely not now either. I must add that I did not own an amiga to run such stuff. But I saw an ingame demo of Bioshock (PC) yesterday, and that was pretty awesome.

Bioshock has been the eagerly awaited sequel to System shock for some time now, and although graphically dated System Shock is still very highly recommended. Not all 3D first person perspective games are blast 'em ups like Doom and Quake. Take Deus Ex as a good example of a first person perspective game that is as much an RPG as anything else.

Y'know, I bought DEus Ex for a fiver from PC world 3 or more years ago and never got past the first level. For some reason I just didn't get into it.
A few months ago I tried it on this PC and it was mega-screwy. Would go really slowly and then speed up like crazy when I moved the mouse around (on the intro and cutscenes too).
I hear so many people rave about it..... maybe one day I will get it running and give it a proper go.

There is a patch for the original Deus Ex to make it run better on XP. It used to be on the official site.
There is also the sequal, Deus Ex 2, which while not as good as the original is still a good game in its own right and worth playing. You should be able to find that cheap these days too.

I looked for a patch but for some reason it didn't work. I had the GOTY version, but re-released on a "Sold Out" budget label and it wouldn't patch (pretty sure I had the right one).
