Driller - any one play it a bit?

I found the game Driller whike googling. I never saw it before,
It was a port from the Atari ST. Looks a space flight sim.

anyone play it a bit? Does it worth the try? I love elite style, looks a bit like it...

I used to play this on the Atari ST. Was a good game at the time. Using a 3D polygon based universe similar to other 3D games of the time.

As the name suggests the main objective of the game was drilling. One of the moons orbiting a planet has become unstable due to over mining and a huge gas build up is going to cause the moon is explode and take the planet with it. To prevent this you are hired to go to the moon and place 18 drilling platforms on the surface (one in each area/level of the game) to allow the gas to escape and fix the problem. It isn't like Elite as you don't have space travel and you can't attack enemies for most of the game. Instead you have to work out where each drilling platform needs to be placed to solve the area, and at the same time avoid enemies attacking you.

If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!

Have you also tried Archipelagos? Not the same by any means, but a great 3D landscape puzzle game all the same. Fairly early 16bit release that needs KS1.3 to run.

The concept of Archipelagos is fairly straight forward. Each island is becoming infected with a virus. You have to explore each island and find all the small egg sized power stones to build up your power level enough to then activate the main obelisks also found on each island. Do this before the landscape turns red to win each island. One of the biggest things with this game as the completely fractal generated islands, so there are literally 1000's to play.
