help - laptop -games

Hi everyone, my cdrom/dvd in my laptop asus A6VA is dead....

my question is:

will i:
- Buy an external/usb cdrom/dvd for +/- 50 euros (less expensive i found)
- buy a new laptop ... there are laptops for 500/600 euros better then mine...

50 euros is a lot compared with the price of a new laptop.

My use with the laptop is: internet/mails, a bit of photoshop (just a bit) and games.
if you dont look at games i can do everything and my laptop is enough, but for games... it is from 2006 with a ATI X700 and 2GBRAM, with +/- 500/600 euros will i buy a conciderable better game system? Or just a bit better? If it's only a bit better, i will buy the external cdrom/dvd and wait a few more time, but if i can get a better system (games) i change it for a new one.

For a gaming laptop worth buying you always need to spend more than the basic 300+ laptops these days. Around 500 will get you quite a nice one that will play a lot of current games. HP are my favourite at the moment. Nice keyboards, and nice displays and cases, also nice spec, normally with 4GB ram and Windows 7 installed.

However, why get an external DVD drive. You can just replace the internal one. Normally on laptops it is very easy to remove the internal CD/DVD drive. Either a couple of screws on the back of the laptop or a sliding latch hold them in place, and once these are removed the drives just slide out of the case and a new one can be put in its place. Worth taking your existing drive out first to see how easy it is to replace.

any special video card that i should look for?
