Having been playing c64 Elite over the past few days I can safely say it's better on 8 bit. Improved graphics and speed seem to take some of the soul away.

I think part of the charm of wire-frame graphics was that it suggested the objects but you had to use your imagination to fill in the rest.

Thanks v85rawdeal. What a great time it would have been to push Elite IV in the news too.

The PS3 would be an ideal machine for a kind of real world space trade game, in the style of Elite of course. Instead of PShome, we'd have Elite Home, or world, or whatever.
