Can I use an A600 PSU with an A500?

Well? Someone at work gave me his old A500 sans PSU, and I have a spare A600 PSU.

Will it work? Or will it melt the A500 and then blow it up in a mass of fire and molten metal?

Yes, it will work as long as you don't attach anything to the A500 like an external floppy drive that draws its power from the A500.

You won't do any harm using an A600 PSU. The worst that can happen is the A500 won't boot.

Te A600 PSUs are very weak compared to all other Amiga PSUs. The original A500 heavy PSU was around 60W and the strongest of all external Amiga PSUs. I forget what the rating of the A600 PSU is. It is normally written on it somewhere. Some A600 PSUs are so weak that adding a 2.5" internal HDD on an A600 can be enough to make the system crash.

If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!

When i look at my friends 1200, his psu only gives 23 watt while the 600 psu gives atlest 35,36 watts

the ratings are for a 600 psu (correct me if im wrong)
    +5v = 4.5 A
    +12v = 1A
    -12v = 0.1A
