It's amazing what you can find after your PPC board dies after cleaning. Now if I can win the Lottery this Saturday I'll hopefully be able to get it repaired.

For those interested the chip he was resoldering was a AMD AM29F040B which is the flash memory for the BPPC card and he installed it into a Power Tower.

Definitely looks fiddly. So was it just a broken pin that needed repairing on his board?

What has gone wrong with your PPC Buleste?

With memory on board the 1200 will not start. If i take out the memory I eventually get a yellow screen (software fault probably due to having no memory to relocate the Kickstart to.) followed by a reset and if I go into the AES the board isn't showing. I think the problem is down to one of the 2257ATQC 72733896 CYFCT chips (The one under the PPC crystal) which i think may have something to do with the memory bus. Unfortunately this may be one of those faults that can't be repaired but if i can get some money together I might send it to the Amiga Repair Centre in France just to see if it can be repaired.

I've heard that the Amiga Repair Centre in France can be quite expensive for repairs. Kin Hell on AmiBay was talking about this recently and he found a guy called Anthony who does Amiga hardware repairs for a lot less money. Not sure if he can repair PPC boards but it might be worth you contacting him. His site is at http://amiga.serveftp.net/

I may get in touch with either of them I'm not sure. One thing I did like about Anthony's site is that there was a link to the Chipdir which allowed me to have a look at the problem chip and it appears to be either SRAM or Pentium Processor Compatible Clock Synthesizer/Driver for ALI Aladdin Chipset the most likely is the clock synthesiser/Driver.
