The worst thing about Guns N Roses was Axl Rose...
So an album with only him left on it sounds BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD.
Run away! Run away!

I used to really like G&R back in the day. Not heard this new one though, but without Slash I'm not expecting great things. Sometimes it is best to just leave something in the past and create a completely new project that isn't forever being compared to the past.
If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!

I've now listened to this album, and it is a mix of very different tracks. Some of the tracks have the old G'nR sound. IRS is probably the closest for me, followed by Better which I already knew. And while Chinese Democracy is heavier in places than G'nR ever were I do like that track.
But some of the others don't sound like G'nR at all. Rhiad And the Bedouins sounds more like something from Soundgarden and too many of the others a ballards or having mixes of other styles and genres. If the World for example has a latin funk sound!
The Blues sounds like an attempt to recreate the energy of November Rain, but fails badly and is a very flat song.
The best guitar solos are in Catcher In the Rye, and I believe it was Brian May on this track.
And Oh My God could easily be mistaken for a Megadeth song.
The album is definitely OK and I will be listening to it again. However it doesn't live up to the past G'nR releases and contains too much of a mixture of styles.

Is Metadeth like Megadeth but encapsulating everything?
