If you had purchased £1,000 of Northern Rock shares one year ago they
would now be worth £4.95.

With HBOS, your £1,000 would now be worth just £16.50.

£1,000 invested in XL Leisure (the airline) would now be worth less
than £5 !

BUT .......
if you bought £1,000 worth of Carling Lager one year ago, drank it all,
then took the empty cans to an aluminium re-cycling plant, you would
get £214 !!

Based on the above statistics the best current investment advice is to
drink heavily and re-cycle.

At an Aluminium recycling plant. If you have enough maybe even a scrap metal dealers.

There used to be a man come to Asda to buy aluminium cans. I remember I once had about 99p worth so he gave me £1. Not seen him for quite a few years though.
