I was reading about epilepsy the other week on a very well designed website.

I got a Royal Mail neighbour opt out sticker last year. The Royal Mail logo quickly faded in the sunshine, and by the end of the year, the sticker had more or less delaminated.

I sent off for a new one a month ago and put it up a couple of weeks ago. I'm pleased to say it is lasting very well:

    Looks about right for RM.

Probably just printed on an inkjet label.

I've not seen one of these. Are they to opt out from junkmail? If so have you registered in the RM website to say you don't want to receive any unwanted mail? All postman earn more money from delivering what's known as door2door. Leaflets thry have to included with every address they deliver to.

No, its to opt out of delivery to neighbours. See https://www.royalmail.com/personal/r...y-to-neighbour.

To opt out you just order a sticker which you display near your letter box.

For the junk mail, I read that after you fill the form in, they stop putting the junk mail in with your own mail actually at the delivery office, rather than displaying a sticker at home. I never bothered opting out of junk mail. Occasionally there'll be something worthwhile delivered, and if the postman doesn't bring it, someone else certainly will.

I didn't actually know about these stickers and have never seen one. As I said I work for RM part time but am not in deliveries, instead working in distribution in a mail centre dealing with business mail.

Why would you not want your mail left with neighbours? Don't you get on or trust them? All the neighbours near me are older retired people and really nice. We all take parcels in for each other. I would say I never trusted all my neighbours at my other house though and might have considered this scheme.

You would have thought these days though that a sticker wasn't needed. Postmen have to carry their PDA with them and log where they are on them to track their movements, for office logistics and so managers can track where they are, and the PDA could easily store this info and they could just check if it could be left or not when someone isn't in.

You're Lucky Dave. Here in a Row of three, both immediate neighbours are complete Douche-Bags. One of them even has a note in their Window to leave with their friends on the other side of us, or their other Social Climbing Plastic friends opposite....

Never known neighbours like 'em anywhere......

I don't like being disturbed by other people's post.

The delivery office has defined opening times. <insert_random_neighbour_here> doesn't.
