My Train Modelling set (Marklin)

I am being working in a train modelling set. It gives me a lot of work, creating, painting, electric parts, etc... but i like it a lot , every saturday morning i go to my bassment with my dad to work on it

Trains are: Maklin, Brawa and Fleischmann
The rest of the set is: Noch, Faller and Vollmer

The basement is not big, but i have +/- 30 meters of lines...

Your train layout looks fantastic mate.
You sure got some work there.
I dont understand 1 controller for everything you talk about to me.
I thought you needed block for each section with dtdp switches to change the polarity as the train passed through each block.
I haven't looked at all the layout yet but am looking forward to a chance to go through it all.
Top job I'm enveous.

Trains are: Maklin

I don't know a lot about model trains, but my cousin had a huge setup at the time, and one make I know is Märklin, a german make. Could that be it?

Btw, nice Iron Maiden flag what is a bit weird, I listened to Fear of the Dark when I was in Portugal.

@Demon: yes, "Marklin", germans write "Märkli" i think, but english keyboards dont have the "ä" so you can right "Maerkin" i think is also correct.

@Loopy:
First i bough a small mobile station - it's the small brain of all train system, it controls trains, but you have not control of full system. so i bought the new:
"central station 2" that runs with Linux, with that i can control 2 trains simultanously, and have control of hundrets of trains (not simultanously) , and also controling the digital turnouts and light signals.
Before the central staion i had to change the turnout manually, now i do it all in the central station, the same with light signals (not yet in photos). I have some digital light signals that can block the movement of a train by blocking a part of the track. If the light is green the train moves, if it's red, that segment has no power and the train dont move. The central station also controls all train sounds and also the smoke generators, quite cool !! Need to upload the last photos.

Someone I work with is really into trains in a big way, with a large 'O' gauge (O scale) railway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0_gauge Is that the same size as your one?

He often tells me about the setup he had and new parts he has fitted.

His railway sounds quite complex with sensors in every section of track and in every train. The software on the controlling PC he has connected knows where all trains are at all times on the track, as well as points and signals and the system can automatically run itself to prevent crashes and derailments. It can even move the trains and trucks waiting in the sidings up as some are moved out, along with automating other processes.

He was even explaining how more than one train can run on the same section of track, even in different directions at the same time due to how it is setup and how the alternating current and sensors work.

He is quite into electronics and builds all of the sensor and circuit boards himself for it.

That's such a cool hobby to have. Something to keep your father and yourself connected and the sense of accomplishment must be awesome. The set looks really good and professional - great work!

I try and find common things to do with my parents in order to keep a connection too. With my dad it's fishing (although we always put the fish back!) and watching sport; mum it's sci-fi viewing and computer lessons!

Brother it's UFC and wrestling occasionally.

It's nice to share hobbies with your family.
