    Game Music Remixes

Some of you already know that I really like Game Music and am always on the search for more great Game Albums to add to my collection.

But what about classic game music remixes? Chip tunes from the 8-bit and 16-bit era remixed into full orchestral or rock performances.

Who has heard of "Press Play On Tape"?

Check this performance out for a start. It is a remix of Monty On The Run from the C64.

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ht7uQYCCj1I

Keep watch right to the end for a great violin performance (even though some moaned it was out of tune - well you can't please everyone).

There are also loads of similar ones on youtube from "Press Play on Tape".

Another couple you will all love are:

    Monkey Island - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=w7_sfWXnwVI
    Outrun - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=d_zzkzFEr54

And you have to watch the following one of Cannon Fodder. It is mad because of the devices they are using to play the tune. Plus a special guest appearance. You just have to see it.

    Cannon Fodder - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hLWw1OpDrpI

And their official site is found at http://www.pressplayontape.com/

If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!

There's also Machinae Supremacy who play more metal version remixes.

    http://www.machinaesupremacy.com/

If you like the tune from Giana Sisters go to this link. I don't have the mp3 of their SIDology anymore, but it seems that it's available for Guitar Hero, so here's a link to the video, if you only want to listen to the music, a C64 medley, it's just great.

You can get a lot of Machinae Supremacy's early music from their site for free, including those Sidology tracks. Most of their music is original and not remixes though. Still, worth getting: http://www.machinaesupremacy.com/compilations.php

As for other remixes, you can't go far wrong with the three Immortal albums which contain remixes of Amiga games. I've bought all three, and they're definitely worth it.

Hmm... I somehow missed/forgot about the first thread completely. Must have read it at the time, but didn't have the time to investigate further.

I did already know about "Press Play On Tape" for some time now and have listened to some of their performances, but I'm only now just getting back into listening to game music and trying to start collect some more of it.
