    while your there on the south of the island, becarefull as i heard rumour that some extras from the Lord of the Rings movie, kinda went a bit crazy and started eating the tourists.... while all dressed up as goblins and orcs.... (you have been warned) blame peter jackson for not taking proper precautions.

    I've heard the south island is the better of the two. Not so much lava or bubbling hot springs, but nicer overall. My Dad visits NZ often for 4-6 week fishing trips (has been 6 or 7 times so far) and has been all over both islands. I really need to go myself one day.
