I've heard of this modificated versions, but never tried one out. Perhaps in the games section on the main site we could link to this site, so also other people can also have a look.

    Interesting.

I just read through the site FAQs and I always think it is quite a mad person who would have the patience to disassemble a game's code just to add some minor changes and updates to the game. But it is also great that some people are mad enough to do this as we then get to see and play the results.

I think we should definitely link to these updated versions of the games. But what do you all think? Add the updated information into the existing entries for both games, or add them as new game page entries because they are updated versions of the games?

If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!

Sort of. They're more patched versions of the original that expands the games. I've had a quick go at Elite advanced and seen one of the new ships which was o.k. Problem is they've made it easier to become Elite which is a shame. I'll have a go of SCR TNT later.

Yes, but under which category? Surely not under commercial. Perhaps we should add a modification category.

I think submeg meant add the details about the modified versions to the original game's pages. I'm not sure myself and I think it might be interesting to have an addition "modified", "fan updated", or "fan modified" category in the games section.

Actually, I think giving these games their own pages would be best because they will require their own screenshots and other information such as who updated and modified them. We could add a link from the original version's page to the modified page details and from that back again.

Thanks for the heads up, Buleste. I've never heard of these updated versions of Elite and Stunt Car Racer before. I'm looking forward to try them out.

Had a few go's on Elite and there seems to be a major bug in that you cannot refuel unless you use the suzanne cheat. The other prob is the new laser is too good (except in a massive Thargoid attack). I think it would have done better making the ranking harder and adding in few of the ships from the different versions of the geame a la http://mackayj.doosh.net/. As for SCR TNT it looks good. Ive just blown one of my speakers on my 1438s so not sure if sound is alright but still good.
