    What makes you nostalgic?

    For me:

    - old games / music I used to play
    - smells and sounds
    - television shows
    - old technology

Retro games, and looking through old photo books. Also, visiting places I've not been to in a long, long time. For example, I dropped by my elementary school about a year ago, and that brought back tons of memories.

The biggest for me is old Magazines. Every time I look through an old Amiga magazine it brings a lot of great memories back. Same with old game boxes and manuals.

Some music too. Remembering the first time I heard something and where I was at the time. Or a song reminding me of a person.

Photographs is another most people get nostalgic over. I found my final school year photo the other week (those big panoramic ones with everyone squeezed onto the shot) and looking through it at all the people I used to know brought back a ton of memories.

TV shows don't always work though as sometimes the great memories I have of them are ruined when I watch them again and realise how dated and bad they have become. That isn't always the case though as there will always be classics that never age. And films never seem to have that negative effect in the same way as many old TV shows do.

And old technology definitely does. Finding something in the loft and having to play around with it again. Or seeing something in a junk/antique shop, or a car boot sale.

Another is seeing a make and model of car you used to own. That always makes me wonder what happened to mine. Is it still being driven and being taken care of or has it been scrapped/crashed. That always makes me then remember how much time and money I spent keeping it looking nice and running well.

If you haven't played a classic game in years, it's never too late to start!

    nostalgia?

Playing Wings of Fury in the A500 in 1989, when my father gave it to me... shooting the japs running on the islands.
Landing the 1st time on that carrier.... just to think about it and i have a tear in my eye.

Music? sure... 1993 in Lisbon, Suicidal tendencies and Mettalica.... ... that is one of the most nostalgic things i have in my mind.

yes and Photographs, everytime o saw the old ones, i love to sse them over and over again.

Ah yes, Suicidal Tendencies. I also saw them live many years ago and was a big fan. I'm sure I still have a ST T-Shirt somewhere with an electric chair on it.

Of course all retro games are great nostalgia for me. Everytime I look at a C64, my heart begins pounding. But I have to admit, that with everything I have, talking about consoles/computers, most nostalgic would be arcade games, because I played on the cabinets even before getting my first computer, meaning the C64 in 1984. And speaking of emulations, I have much everything installed on my barebone PC, but still MAME is one of the greatest emulations ever.

If I listen to an old school metal album, like the first releases of Exodus, Slayer, Testament, Metallica, Overkill, Venom, Anthrax,... I always get that nostalgia feeling too, but I think that happens to everybody who still has interest in the same stuff he used to like 20-30 years ago.

I also saw ST at a gig in Nancy (France). I was great, but I have to admit, it was a bit later, 1997-98, and their newest stuff wasn't as good as in the old days, but still Mike Muir provided a great show.
