Does WINUAE work in a USB HD 2.5?

    Hi guys.

with AmigaSYS3 working with a real A1200, i will try to install it in my Amiga 2.5 HD.

Can i plug my Amiga 2.5 HD by USB to my PC laptop and Install AmigaSYS3 thru PC and then put the HD again on A1200?

I was thinking in buying one of this USB converters so that i can plug the HD on the laptop:

USB 2.0 To IDE Adapter Connector 2.5" 3.5" HD Cable g1:

    Will it work?
    any other solution?
    Thanks

I've not tried using an external USB caddie to connect an Amiga formatted drive to a PC. I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work as it is just a HD like any other, just formatted with an Amiga file system.

Has anyone else tried to do this? Stu might have.

I try it yesterday with an adapter that i bought from Ebay (Hong Kong). It was
    0,99£ !!

USB 2.0 To IDE Adapter Connector 2.5" 3.5" HD Cable g1
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN:IT&ih=010

I pluged the Amiga HD in the IDE 2.5 and connected to my laptop USB... it took +/- 20 seconds to recognize, but it worked. I was able to setup it in winaue and boot it.
I didn't have time for more, today i will try to install AmigaSYS 3AGA in this HD thru my laptop.

It is a good solution from fast setup of your Amigas HDs.... 0.99 £ is a good price... i payed more in shipping!

Yes it's cool Submeg, and it's really small.
And for your Amiga 2.5 HD you dont need extra power cable, so just connect the usb cable and it will work.

How long did that take to arrive from Hong Kong? That cable looks very useful so I think I will get one myself, especially at that price. Will come in handy for connecting all IDE drives up when I'm fixing other peoples computers, and of course also for Amiga HD access.

That's like the ones I've found on ebay. I've now also found one that also has a SATA port on the top, so you can connect both 2.5 and 3.5 IDE, as well as SATA drives via USB which could be very useful. Plus it comes with an external PSU too so you can connect up 3.5" HD's and supply them with power. That one is £2.99 + £4.95 postage (£6.98 total) and the seller is in the UK, so I might get that one.
