Tbh, I have installed plenty of both modbo760 and modbo4 chips with v1.99 firmware and they all perform perfectly with backups.
if you are modding a slim ps2 I fully recomend the 760 as it is easier...

I find to maximise the battery life I only turn features on when I need them Bluetooth, wireless, Mobile data, etc....
