Has anyone else here seen Electric Dreams?

I finally got hold of a copy of the video on ebay.

I thought it was very good, but something that I thought was a bit odd, was that in thecomputer shop when Miles bought his computer, as well as the usual Commodore 64s and Apples, there was also BBC Model A/Bs and what appeared to be CUB monitors. Does anyone know why this is, because I didn't think BBCs were avaliable in America (it is an american film)? The lady in the shop also held a copy of the BBC's Welcome guide.

I also love how they did the ending with the Together in Electric Dreams song. I have always liked that song.

According to one website, alot of it was actually filmed in England, despite the film being set in America, so that might be the reason for all the BBCs.

It would be interesting to see if the BBC Micro was actually released in the US or not as I don't know. But I have the feeling it might not have been due to the strength of the Apple II at the time in the US.

Don't recall the film.
I take it the song is the the one by Human League?

Sort of. It was sung by the Human League frontman Philip Oakey in collaboration with Giorgio Moroder, and released as part of the self titled album "Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder".

I cannot remember the film but I'm sure I must have seen it back in the 80's. The Wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Dreams) says that the VHS of the film is very rare so you were very lucky finding it Steve.

Yeah, it is quite rare.

There do usually seem to be one or two though on ebay. I think the one I got is an ex-rental one though. (strangley, there is a sticker on the back of the video saying 'Please rewind', and it wasn't rewound fully).

The normal versions tend to sell for a bit more, around £10 or so, but I wasn't really that bothered about how it had been used in the past, or what kind of box it was in, as it is the film that is the most important part.

I also managed to get hold of the Extended (12") version of the Together in Electric dreams song. It also conatins an instrunmental version of it.

Very nice. I used to really like that song when it came out. Were you even born then Steve? ;)
