...what is the first mental image you see?

For me it is the A500 loaded to the Kickstart 1.3 insert disk screen.

Second is the Silica Store adverts as I used to spend ages looking at them in each magazine and wishing I could afford one.

I visualise the A500 itself, as it was when it sat on my desk at the time.

Hmm, still have the dubious pleasure of seing that occasionally.
Also managed yesterday, to get an Amiga emulator to crash and show the boot without startup screen.

That had to be the worst thing ever to see in the history of computing. That, and then the blue screen of death.

...which was a "feature" of Windows Millennium.

Well I alsways have to think of the Amiga 500 which adds I saw in CVG and the Amiga 1200 my nephew had.
He had loads of illegal games and every time I came he had some new ones.

Unfortunate there was a little accident with the monitor and I don't know what happened afterwards.
I still remember telling my nephew that I had no idea what had happened to it, one moment the image on it seems to fold and I start to smell melting plastic.

That sounds like the tube blew on the monitor. Not a lot you can do to repair a screen when that happens.

And that defintely was a key feature of Me. That has to be the worst M$ OS released to date. Even less stable than Windows 3.1

I second that...twas crap

I once had Millennium installed for 3 weeks, then I already removed it, because it annoyed me so that I eventually wanted to kick my PC.

I'd have to disagree at least on the stand point of games. All of them were compatable and so was the Mugen fiighting engine.

I meant stability as an OS, rather than compatibility. 3.1 wasn't really compatible with much at all outside of office applications as most were run directly from DOS in those days, and by the time Me was released it shared the same compatibility as 98 SE did. But it was very unstable. It hated Photoshop and Flash as I remember both crashed constantly on the system being used by the guy sat next to me at the time. Luckily as the person responsible for computer installation and hardware purchases at the time I made sure my own PC had 2000 Pro installed ;)

Nice. I especially like the retro gaming touch. You can hear a different game being played at the end of each sequence. :)
