It is possible to beat the own score, it will only raise then.

It wasn't just snake, I had trouble with a bunch of games, but some of them seemed to have fixed themselves, minesweeper messed up for me just then.

There's even too much activity :p I'm sitting here since 14:30 and still have not finished answering the posts. From time to time I help Oz with a logo, and when I'm back after 15 minutes, there are 10 new posts again.
