Yep, backed it myself just now and came here to tell people about it. Got beaten to the punch I see. ;)

Have only been waiting since the mid-nineties for this, finally it's coming!

Finally! Years of waiting for something Elite to be announced. This is great news indeed.

The most interesting thing mentioned for me is multiplayer. Will be great to all play alongside in a convoy. They would really need to add some multiplayer missions to it though, to keep it fun.

Actually I disagree. Elite was never a multiplayer game, it was always about the single player experience. I really don't want them to change that, we allready have Eve Online. Fortunately Braben says there that it still will be about the single player. The online bit is superficial at best which is good in my opinion. Elite is one game I would like to be playing on my own and not be bogged down by a party of ADHD-morons. I sincerely don't want them to increase the multiplayer focus in this.

I agree with Teho.

And anyway, how far is this project? No pictures, nothing. So we still have to see if this will ever be released. Would be nice, but let's not get excited too early.

I also agree, i cannot see Elite as a multiplayer game.... it's a single player, but maybe with a multiplayer option it could be fun, but main game should be a single lonely player in the vast universe. Then after main game, it could have multiplayer as an option

I agree the main game should be single player, exploring the universe populated by computer controlled NCPs, ships etc... what I meant was it would be great to be able to run a custom server to invite people into, so you could then explore within the game together.

Freelancer did exactly this, being primarily a standalone single player game, but able to host custom servers for multiplayer.
