Hi all

Just thought i'd let you know there is currently a custom made Scandoubler / Flickerfixer available on eBay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280739562631?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_1159wt_1185

It will only do PAL screens but supports interlace and will display on just about any modern monitor as it outputs 60Hz rather than the usual 31Hz of traditional scandoublers.

The blurb says it is a one off but he will build more if enough interest is shown, what do we think Amiga fans, is it worth a shot to be able to play all our retro games on a decent monitor?

That does look nice, and in a nice strong metal case too. Would be interested in learning more about this, and the guy behind it. If he were interested in making more than I could easily arrange a group buy with other members of the Amiga community to maybe reduce costs per unit based in a certain total number of orders needed.

I've always personally preferred the idea of an external SD/FF instead of an internal one like the Indivision because it means you can use the single unit with multiple Amiga systems.

I'm wondering if this unit is using one of the off the shelf Chinese SD/FF boxes you can find on ebay and he has converted it for Amiga specific use, or if is is built from the ground up? Would be interesting to find out. I will try to contact the seller when I get chance.

Very interesting.
Can you give more detaisl about it?
For me, i would be interested but i guess shipping to Portugal would be a bit, looks a bit heavy...
Would you ship only the circuit board to avoid weight?

Only UK shipping I'm afraid.

Maybe if we show some interest then they will ship worldwide, it does say if enough are interested then will build more!

Looks like he uses one of these:

They seem to work fine for conversion:

Here's how to hook it up:

There are other suggestions on hookup as well:

Thanks for that info e5frog. Looks a very interesting solution, and much cheaper than anything else around. I'm tempted to get one of these to remove the need for any of my old CRTs I still have and to instead just hook everything up to one of these when needed.
