Just something we've been working on with the folks from TheCompany.pl, preconfigured Amiga games stored in a single EXE file ready to use right after start. :)

Great stuff. I've always wondered how the EXE versions of games are created. Could you shed some light on it? It is a great thing, having a single packaged up exe file you can just run to load a game or demo.

No secret really, it's simply WinUAE with a specific config for the specific game, without these most useless options and the memory debugger turned off so that your average Joe couldn't look what's inside. ;)

Nice idea! There are some really addictive classic Amiga titles that people may not experience unless they're offered in this simple click and play way.

I agree. So many people email me asking how they can play game X on their PC easily... normally they are put off when they find out how complicated (to a notice) setting up an Amiga emulator might be to them. A single click single file package solution is a great solution.

And actually, for non-commercial or software classicamiga has permission to host, I think it would be great to include exe downloads so people can download and play them "out of the box".

Ya, we had a request thread, and after being flooded with many, many, MANY titles we had to close it for the time being. :lol:
There's still a chance if some title gets enough votes it will get pushed up a little... ;)

It was actually for a new member here called Jag in mind as he mentioned some games he wanted to play were not currently available. I know he wanted to play Locomotion, so that was one I imagine.

BTW, do you have a guideline for creating these? as I would be willing to help create a few.

Unless you prove yourself that you're skilled in programming, by ripping some stuff from inside the EXE for example, hint hint ;)

Actually, Jag female of the species (ostensibly, anyway, not that it particularly matters) and also cunningly concealed in plain sight as a grown-up whereas, well, you know....

Anyhoooo, Shoonay, any way of disabling the sound emulator? (Not a hacker or cracker, I'm afraid, so I won't be playing with the .exe anytime soon, at least not without specific instructions <sigh>.) The problem is that my CPU won't run the program at sufficient speed and the sound breaks down to the extent that you can't play anything. I've managed to get a couple of simple games to play on WINUAE (Megaphoenix - hooray! but I am really bad - would say I'm rusty, but I think that's probably just an excuse) but only if I turn the sound emulation off. I'm particularly interested in your Pinball 19 in 1 selection as I used to have a couple of these, so to play them again would be particularly sweet. (Don't want much do I? You could paint the moon blue, while you're at it, if you like...)

You don't need to turn the sound off, change the Filter to Null filter or none after pressing F12.
Slightly increasing the sound buffer might help too.

Thanks for this, Shoonay - I tried this and although it still runs a bit slowly I can at least use it! I had to turn off the sound, though, as it sounded as though I was standing on the biggest reverb pedal in the entire world.......... You would not believe the smile this has put on my face, though. My cheeks actually hurt from grinning so much. I'm really, really bad, but I just don't care!

Try another thing: Press F12, go to Speed Mode, change to Slow.

Spec? Some mice and a rubber band, I think... Celeron 2.93GHz CPU, 1.43 GB RAM, 55.8 GB hard disk space, running XP 2002 Home Edition. And the fan works very hard. Drowns out the screams, anyway.

Will try this and will threaten the mice with a good whuppin'....

Hey, I was just recommending this to some friends at another forum and noticed that guest downloads have been disabled for the time being. This is because they were hosted at Megaupload, right? Are member downloads still working? I haven't registered myself so can't check. Typical my luck that something like this happened just as I recommended it to a bunch of people. Any ideas on how to restore guest downloads or will it remain members-only now? Allthough I've never needed it myself I always thought this was a great service, hope it stays as accessible as it always was.

I do own these games legal but I could never play them until now.

In general they play well but its a bit annoying the ingame language for the menus is Polish but that is probably something that can not be helped.

As they are a Polish group working on these releases I suppose their own language comes first. Would definitely be nice to see some multi-language releases though, so it expands the number of fans able to really enjoy the releases.

Nice idea to have a verifier. I personally like the retro bbs look, but what about a pc cracking group style window with some funky music, a way to select the file to verify and a verification button. With an output window.

I'm not sure how large the whole collection is at the moment, but I will take a look on the server and find out. It would be possible to create a single archive, but I would need to check with TC to authorise me distributing one. I would definitely be willing.

Hey Anthrox, any new 2.6 versions? I had most 2.5s flagging as virus on my BitDefender and other AVs I tried. 2.6 versions OK!

Many emulators and related files throw up false positives in virus checkers because they don't understand the code. Just ignore the virus checker and tell it to ignore the files in the future. It will always happen.
