I was just reading about another AmigaOS 4 web browser called OWB (Origyn Web Browser). This looks promising, based on WebKit and using open source WebCore/JSCore BSD licenses, so community development won't be an issue.

It is coded for OS4.1, but is said to mostly work in 4.0 also.

More information and latest download can be found at http://www.strohmayer.org/owb/

Has anyone with an OS4.1 machine tried this yet, and if so what do you think? Now that Firefox has been ported I'm unsure of the future of these other browser projects that have been popping up. Thoughts?

I've also read that OWB is also available for AROS. Can anyone confirm this?

I'm using OWB on a regular basis on my AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2 setup. It's quite the nice browser and it is the best one I've used so far on the Amiga. It's compatible with the majority of pages, unlike IBrowse which unfortunately is getting a bit outdated.

OWB is constantly being updated by the Amiga-hero Strohmayer. He's doing a great job on this project.

There's still a bit to be done though. There's no progress-indicator for downloads for example. This is perhaps not the most important feature, but it would be nice if it was available. I'm sure it will be added in the near future. The speed could also be a tad better.

Anyway, I use OWB every day and I'm very happy with it.

I see you mention the port of Firefox (Timberwolf) to AmigaOS 4.1. I don't think this will affect the development of OWB. A new update of OWB was released just a few days ago. :)

PS: If you want, I can upload some images of OWB displaying Classicamiga.com. :)

That's right. There's a port of OWB for AROS.

That would be cool to see CA running on it.
