Pinball Fantasies - Stones 'n' Bones - Hiscore Competition

Welcome to the second classicamiga hiscore competition.

This time we are going to be playing the classic Amiga pinball game, Pinball Fantasies, and are going to be using the Stones 'n' Bones table for the Hiscores.

We did run this game for a competition on the old forum, but for that one we used the Partyland table. Now it's time to see how good you all are at a different table.

As with any pinball game, the basic idea is to keep the ball on the table without it falling down past the flippers. The Stones 'n' Bones table has some great sound effects and some nice bonus features. Hope you all have fun.

Game to be played: Pinball Fantasies - Stones 'n' Bones table.
Platform: Amiga A500 OCS/ECS
Emulator: WinUAE (quickstart config: A500+/A600 - 2.04ROM, Full ECS, 1MB Chip RAM)
Difficulty Level: Normal
Length of Competition: 3 Weeks (ending Saturday 09:00 10th March '07)
Competition Rules: Obtain the highest score!

Points to be won:

1st Place: | 5000 points
2nd Place: | 2000 points
3rd Place: | 500 points

Game Files: Please let me know if you have problems finding the ADFs for this game.

How do you want us to post screenshots? I had a look at the FAQ, but nothing regarding competitons.

Have a look in the Hiscore competition rules (http://forum.classicamiga.com/showthread.php?t=156) thread as I have updated it with details on how to submit your images for the competition. Basically everyone now needs to submit their hiscores into the members gallery on the main site, and then link to their image in this thread. This is mainly so we don't end up losing images and having broken image links in the hiscore threads later on.

Here's my first attempt to get things started, a pretty average score of 16,411,700 - I remember getting scores much higher than this years ago so it should be easily beatable. I assume I can post another entry if I improve on it Harrison?

I've changed the settings in the gallery so that no one needs to wait for approval before you can view and use your images. Sorry about that. I hadn't realised that approval setting had been set incorrectly.

I probably should explain how I got this (to try and validate it & give others a chance of beating it :tease:):

I spent the whole game aiming to get the Stone Bone lit up and open up the vault prize. I did occasionally hit other things, but the main challenge was to get the lights lit and then goto the vault. When I got to a level called 'Ghost Hunt' each bumper and light was worth 1,000,000 points. Inadvertently I shot the tower and got a 14,000,000 jackpot. Thinking to hell with the million, I shot it again (a reflex shot i.e. straight away without hitting anything else) only to be awarded a super jackpot this time of 50,000,000! Add this to the 11,000,000 I got from the bumpers and there was some 75 million points scored in 30 seconds (which is more than the previous whole game scores). Plus if you beat the high score (think it must have been about 100 million and you get an extra ball.

Ghost Hunt, is that the fifth vault prize? In earlier games I only got as far as the fourth, which is the 10 million bonus. First is 5 million, second is Tower Hunt, third is Extra Ball lit. Back in the day, I remember I got all the way to the Grim Reaper several times. That's the final one, I no longer remember how it worked, but do remember you could get insane scores from it. Just from counting the ghost images on the board, that would be the 8th vault prize. Would be cool to get that far again.

Guess I'll have to give it a try now. :)

Yeah it's the fifth. And yep, Grim Reaper is the 8th - I've never got that far expect on practice runs. You shoot ramps for 10million(?) a time in G.R. I think.

Cheers guys, it was great to play Pinball Fantasies again. I thought (and suspect if the site wasn't being worked on as much) that there would be much higher scores than mine. Still nice to win something :D . Any idea on what the next competition game's going to be next?
