I am looking to use amiga-generated music for my movies created with Lionhead's The Movies software, but I do not want to rush into it just in case I upset anyone.

I do have a few questions to help with this matter..

1. Does anybody know of any copyright restrictions laid upon the original song files that were distributed with the various soundtracker programs on the Amiga?

2. Does anybody have a good database or references containing details of modules created in the '90s, preferably including details covering the composer and contact details, so that I can communicate with them and ask permission.

By the way, would just like to say thankyou to Harrison for setting this new forum up and I hope that any problems with the previous forum remain with the previous forum.

Seasons greetings to you all

1: For scene modules, the copyright restrictions were usually to spread and copy it as much as you want, the more the better. But get permission from the composer before using it in a production. You can probably get away with not asking if the production is non-commercial, non-profit and the original author is properly credited. But it would be considered good form to ask first, I guess.

2: Well, for a lot of demoscene music there's Amiga Music Preservation (http://amp.dascene.net/home.php), they have as much info about the music and musicians as they can get their hands on. Also, for game musics there's the UnExoticA (http://www.exotica.org.uk/tunes/unexotica/index.html) archive on exotica.org.uk (http://www.exotica.org.uk).

And a merry christmas to you too. :)

You are welcome.

I've been wanting to set up a better forum for some time and the old ones final problems finally pushed me to do it. It is much better having complete control over it's setup and running. :)

And a Merry Christmas to you too. :santananer::Xmasbinge::xmasbanana:
