Hello there my fellow forum chummies

I am attpemting to put a group-buy together for this item.

http://lvd.nedopc.com/Projects/a600_8mb/photos/1.jpg

heres a luscious linkie (http://lvd.nedopc.com/Projects/a600_8mb/)

It may well be in kit form (to be built be either yourself / me or my good friend TheCorfiot)

heres the therad on eab, http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=42262 and AmiBay http://www.amibay.com/posting.php?mode=edit&f=86&p=13488

All i am interested in at the moment is the numbers, who is interested and howmany,

This way i can get an expected cost per unit :)

If in kit form I do have a lot of reclaimed memory so this will reduce the cost significantly

so yes, if you are interested in joining in a group buy / purchase of these then please, post here / pm me or post on EAB or AmiBay:)

thanks for reading :)

I'm interested in one.
I'm not exactly that good with a soldering iron though (as I have the jitters all the time .... nervous problems) so it would be nice if someone could assemble one for me (I don't mind paying a little extra)

Zetr0 and TheCorfiot are both offering to make the boards up for anyone who wants one, or you can get one in kit form if you enjoy making things. So you don't need to worry. :)

That picture is of a 2007 (MK1) board. Are you really going to be trying to get MK1 boards?

This is the 2008 improved MK2 board...

Full details of the newer 2008 MK2 board can be found at http://lvd.nedopc.com/Projects/a600_8mb_2/index.html

And as alexh couldn't post images of the newer 2008 MK2 board, here they are:

In addition here are the jumper settings for this MK2 board:

http://lvd.nedopc.com/Projects/a600_8mb_2/jumpers.png

The board is highly configurable, allowing you using full 8Mb, half 4Mb with PCMCIA enabled, 1.5Mb non-autoconfiguring mem at $C00000 (as in A500), and a maximum of 4+1.5 Mb with PCMCIA still enabled.

@All

From my calculations I should be able to get these made up for £20 a unit, possibly cheaper.

I am waiting on Stas to get back to me in reguards to licensing the latest board revision and CPLD code for a batch run of 60 units. pending on what happens it may increase the price a little.

Mid next week I think it should be a cut off point for the group by, the interest in this has been nothing but amazing!

Should that Stas / LDV not be in a position to offer the latest unit I will look into manufacturing the older version.

with some discussion on eab it may well be possible to have 8MB fast ram with the use of select card types with the PCMCIA such as Network and CF and other Card readers, but I will keep you all aprised on this.

That would be brilliant if you did find a way to get PCMCIA network and CF card readers working with 8MB fast ram. It would then make my A600 exactly how I wanted it. :)

Great work Z.
