There is a cool set of torrents on Underground Gamer called
The Scene Archives

This is split into 12 CD ISO images, with them containing a huge collection of Demo Scene DMS files for over 11,000 productions.

Part 1 of the collection can be found here (http://www.underground-gamer.com/details.php?id=29211).

That's one huge archive. Would for sure love to download it and use it to add contents to the site, but there's a message on the site saying: "We have reached our maximum user limit. Accounts are being pruned all the time so please check back soon (no hammering)." :( Is it available someplace else?

The archive's seeding pattern is quite random at the moment. Only the original uploader is a seed, and he doesn't appear to be online all of the time. However when he is the speed is quite good. I managed to download the whole of the first two discs in the collection in one day for example.

I'm currently seeding these first two discs so when you download them at least you should find one seed online ;) However I added vol 3 and 4 to my downloads 2 days ago and they haven't started to download yet, with no seeds or other peers connected at all. I just hope the original uploader starts to seed them again. If these next volumes haven't started by tonight I will post a reseed message on UG.

I've just added all of these to my downloads. Good thing I've a lot to go on my ratio there. :)

That's one thing you need to bear in mind, PG. UG is ratio based, so you're expected to seed back at least a third of what you download. If you fail to do that your account will be banned. Happens quite fast too if you try to download something as big as this, and with very few peers maintaining the ratio could be hard. You may want to consider downloading something popular just to seed it for a while to get a good ratio going.

@PG

I need an email address of you to send you an invite.

Alternatively, you could wait until I've managed to download all of the set and then I can burn you a copy and send it to you on CD.

Well someone with an insane connection must have been seeding these today. When I left for work this morning, one of these were halfway done, another barely started on and the rest were in the queue and not started. Came home just now to see that they are all finished. :blink:

So I at least have them all now. :)

The ones I had queued up over the weekend are also all now completed, so yes, someone must have been seeding them on a good connection as there are still only a couple of seeds for each. Sadly my download server ran out of space during the downloading of the 6th torrent so I need to free some space before resuming the collection.

Thanks for the offer, Harrison. It would be excellent if you could do this for me. :thumbs:

This archive comes with a search utility called SASU (The Scene Archives Search Utility) that allows you to search for any demo on the set of 12 CD's and then extract the DMS file from the CD back into a floppy disk.

The latest version of SASU can be found on aminet here (http://aminet.net/search?query=SASU).

Each disc also includes a text file listing the CD's file contents. I have attached a copy of these text files for you all to look though to see what is included on the discs.

Thanks, Harrison. Will have a look at those text files.
