Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 is out for the PS2. It has a metascore of 97%, which catapults it to the top as meanwhile best game for this platform. A version is already available at BG. Here's (http://metacritics.com/games/platforms/ps2/shinmegamitenseipersona4) the Metacritic score page.
