Have you also seen the reusable toaster bags? You can get ones for many different series, films etc and they burn pictures onto your toast in much the same way.

I fear that I would wear out such a toaster very quickly though as all my meals would need to somehow contain toast!

I know the feeling on that one. A lot of my meals contain toast as it is, with a novelty toaster like that, I'd only ever eat toast!
