Do you have some spare cash? Bidding began at 12.50$ (take a look at the bid history). We should use our forum points to buy this :)

That is an amazing collection for sure. I bet you were so tempted to sell everything you could to buy it!

I'm wondering though. He states every game every released, but is this just US releases? or all regions?

He states every game every released, but is this just US releases? or all regions? These are only US releases, like Elite or Gauntlet aren't in the lot, as they only had PAL releases.

But the price is already much too high, imagine if you would pay 10$ per cartridge, this would be 6,700$ then, that would already be a lot, and too much. That's really something for the pure cartridge collector, but even then, it's way too much, you could buy a nice car instead.

The price did surprise me too. It does show there must be some serious collectors out there and some very hard to obtain games. All being in very good condition is also another factor.

Wow! That's a killer collection! While it would be nice to have it, I wouldn't realistically see myself playing all of those. Hxll, out of the 100 or so NES games I do have, I only play maybe 15 or 20 on a regular basis.

Demon Cleaner

I have them all (no cartridges though) and play none ;)

Harrison

Same here. :) Although I do sometimes play the odd NES game.

670 games, currently 31,000 dollars?!

That's almost 50 bucks per game. Crazy, absolutely crazy. Fair play to the seller though.

But still, balls to paying that much for it.

The seller must be the happiest guy on ebay at the moment. I wish Amiga games were selling for such prices. I would be a rich man. :hmmm:

It's an awesome collection for sure, but it is way to expensive for us normal users. I would never invest that much money into buying those games.

Harrison

I wonder if this is going to push up the price of NES carts for a while after this auction ends.

Demon Cleaner
30th January 2007, 18:26
I would be a rich man.Do you have such a lot of original amiga games? I have none.

Well it's now at £123,315.64 - £184 per game. Yeah, these bids must be real...

Demon Cleaner
31st January 2007, 00:48
Wtf. Someone's pushing his own collection to max, this is stupid. In the very beginning, I really thought this was a serious auction, but now, as Alex stated, it's just nonsense, sadly.

HOLY..............look at the price now! 241,800.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would you bother with something so stupid....

AlexJ
31st January 2007, 01:11
I assume an extremely rare NES game will go for around £200 - that's only £20 more than the average of this auction. The SMB3's of this world go for about £3-4 on their own. I don't see why anyone would buy this set.

Harrison

Now up to $242,200 This is quite mad, or quite stupid depending on if this is genuine bidding or false inflating of the price. It still has a few days to go too.

Submeg

Meh, no one will want to buy from him after this, seeing as he is boosting it up.

I'd bet that this auction has been linked to on all manner of gaming sites and some kids (probably from gamefaqs) have decided to play silly buggers and put in fake bids.

It would be interesting to see how much a collection like this would actually, really fetch.

Harrison
31st January 2007, 12:19
That could be very true. But don't forget the recent changes ebay have made to their policies in the last couple of years. For an auction going this high with this number of bids, an investigation by ebay could very well take place if this is false bidding, and legal action could ensue. If on the other hand this is genuine bidding then it is just madness.

Submeg
31st January 2007, 13:27
So what happens if they are false bids?

AlexJ
31st January 2007, 14:40
eBay might decide to ban the account of the false bidder. That's as far as their punishment usually goes. It might even be as little as an exchange of negative feedback. The item will usually be offered to the next lowest bidder to accept or decline.

Submeg

Would be awesome to get it for $100

Harrison
31st January 2007, 21:54
Anyone else noticed the auction has dropped back down to currently being $21,200

Take a look at the Bid retraction and cancellation history. Loads of false bids and fake bidder verifications. So it does seem some were having a laugh at the bidder by posting silly amounts.

But even back to it's real bidding $21,200 is still pretty good going. Works out at $32.64 a game which doesn't actually sound that much.

Looks like the auction was pulled. Too bad, as it would have been interesting to see what it went for

Demon Cleaner
7th February 2007, 14:19
It guess it's quite normal they pulled the auction. Wasn't a serious one anyway.

Submeg

Hmm, wonder what a serious auction for that stuff would go for....would be interesting.
