Which Internet search engine do you use and why?

I use Google almost exclusively. I will have to start using others occaisionally, as I was looking for a website which I visited a few years ago and again about 6 months ago but could not remember the address or find it on Google. The guy I was talking to on IRC at the time diid a quick search on Lycos and found it.
Back in the day I used to use quite a lot of search engines. I would look at Google, Ask Jeeves, Lycos etc. One good reason for not using Ask Jeeves any more is that they got rid of Jeeves. Ask on it's own is boring.

Google, finds everything I need, so no point in using others.

Used Yahoo years ago but Google finds a lot more these days.
Should try a few others I suppose.

Actually, Google too. The term 'googling' has become part of our vocabulary - I don't think the founders of Google expected it to become quite so big.

I use Altavista. Only because I wanted to try something other than Google. I do use Google when Altavista fails to find what I search for, but then I don't find it in Google either. So couldn't really say which is actually better.

When i first stated using the internet i'd use yahoo or ask.com and then i found google and as it finds most the stuff i look for (even some of the obscure stuff) i only ever use that.

Me too. Recently added the iGoogle thing for my home PC. Good to see the weather forcast and news snippets when I first fire up the interpipe-browsings.

www.booble.com .
That site appears to have been hijacked.
It is now some sort of porn search engine would you believe.
Absolutely disgraceful.
Took me three hours to get off that site.
Mainly because I was having some problems typing.
No longer seem to be able to make my hands hit the correct keys.

I can't remember what I used before Google. I switched when I saw a guy at my work placement was using it - in around 2000 (I only first went on the internet properly when I started uni in 99).
Probably Yahoo or Ask Jeeves

Ha ha, I do like Gizoogle (http://www.gizoogle.com/) to 'gangsterize' pages :p
Problem is ..... the site doesn't work. No matter what you search for or what URL you enter, you just get back a blank page !!!

Mostly Google these days. I often just type key words directly into the address bar and it is set to search google. I say mostly because my favourite is astalavista ;)
When I first started using the internet back in 1996 I used Yahoo and Altavista. They were really the only two available at the time.

I also used Astalavista a lot. I saw that it still exists, but can't reach it from here due to Websense.
