There are a lot of great music tracks released as part of demo productions. I was wondering what some of your favourites were?

If we get a good list we could then release a mod pack of our favourites. :)

Oh hell, where do I start? Misery Dentro II (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1628/102/) had one of Virgill's first songs Breath Control which was very good, Clairvoyance (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1169/102/) had a great track by Doc Holiday and Twilight, and then there was all the demos featuring Jester's music, including Extension (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1371/102/), World of Commodore (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1374/102/) and the musicdisk Jesterday (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/3241/102/).

Desert Dream (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1168/102/) and D.A.N.E. (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1170/102/) by Kefrens can't be left out, neither can Interference (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1171/102/) by Sanity which has another track by Virgill. Andromeda had great music in their demos too, DOS (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/486/102/) is good and so is Sequential (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1373/102/). And their musicdisk Mirror (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/3244/102/) is a must as well. Sanity's Arte (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1624/102/) has several good tracks, and I also like Yaz's soundtrack to Day of Reckoning (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1625/102/) by Digital. And their musicdisk Extemporized (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1625/102/) is worth listening to as well.

That's all or most of the one's that I allready uploaded and linked the soundtracks to on the main site, so there's the reason for all the links. Have a listen, or better yet watch the demos as they and their soundtracks complement eachother as they're supposed to.

One of my favourites has to be 'Mindriot', from the same-named Andromeda demo.

The one tune, other than my own useless cr4p, that always sticks in my mind is Upon Me by Dr. Awesome (I think it was). I just love the way he layered all the guitar effects and the crowd in the background. Real stadium atmosphere!

Wasteland, the music from the RSI Megademo part with the vectorballs, done by Romeo Knight. I always loved that tune.

Part 5 on this (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1623/102/) site.

Sounds like a grand plan. Are you thinking of an archive of our favourite tunes, or an extended one with a coded selector and interface?

Hmm.. my favourites? It's hard picking out just a few, but I'll do my best. Demos are in random order.

Psychedelic by Virtual Dreams and Fairlight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCFnS8uLUCg)

Heartcore by IRIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpN_yad_PuE)

Control by Oxygene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2olrJ7gy3PE) (Legendary tune from Clawz! Always liked this one.)

Mindflow by Stellar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb7AQZR-CT4) (So many memories from watching this demo! Great tune from Strobo. If you haven't listened to it before, do it NOW! ;))

Beyond the Future by Union (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xOaWjJ_rFs) (Excellent stuff.)

Lech by Freezers (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/3012/102/)

Pulse by Nerve Axis (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/2627/102/)

Divine by Gods (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7DJBliLrX4) (Yes, it's a slideshow, but the music is very good.)

Worlds by Gods

There are of course many more demos I could mention here, but I'll stop now. I've included YouTube links, so that you can listen to the tunes yourself. :)

It's been such a long time since I saw any demos that I'm really struggling to remember the ones with good music. I remember Andromeda's Sequential was good, there was a composer called 4MAT that did some good tunes but I can't remember what/who for! Did the Freezer's demo that came out prior to 'Lech' have good music? I think it was quite manic...

For Sequential we have the soundtracks and the whole demo as a video on the site. You can find it here (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1373/102/).

You can also search by artist name on classicamiga. So for example, searching for 4-MAT will give the the following search result here (http://www.classicamiga.com/component/option,com_jreviews/task,list/simplesearch,4-Mat/order,alpha/Itemid,102/).

I assume you're thinking of the Wit Premium demo? I personally think it's great demo music, even if the tune is a bit hectic. ;) If you would like to watch the demo again, we have it available for download on the main site. Head over here (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/3016/102/) to check it out. :)

Yes, it was Wit Premium I was thinking of. Haven't seen that for at least 12 years! Thanks for posting the link. OS X thinks this is an MPEG, is that correct? When I try to open the file in my default MPEG player - QuickTime 7.4.5 - it doesn't work, with the helpful message "The movie could not be opened." Or is it an ADF?

Harrison, thanks for the links, I sometimes forget that there's the main classicamiga web site!

And how could I forget: CAOS and Birdie Nam Nam on the Budbrain Megademo (http://www.classicamiga.com/content/view/1461/102/)!

I just checked that for you and it seems that amigascne.org (the ftp the file download is from) have forgotten to include the file extension on that download. It is actually a DMS file (the Amiga Disk Masher format). Just add .dms to the end of the file name. The Windows emulator WinUAE handles DMS files just the same as a disk image (ADF). Not sure about Mac emulators but I would think UAE-X would be able to also open them in the same way, loading them into the emulator as a disk in DF0: Hope that helps.

You're welcome. Can't forget the main site! :o

You're welcome. :) As Harrison wrote, you can just add .DMS to the filename of the Wit Premium demo. Although, I've now replaced that download with a working one. So you can just click on it to start downloading.

The Budbrain Megademo is a true classic. If you head over to the main site, you'll find an updated version of the page. I've put up both disks for download, along with a video of the whole demo. Hope you'll enjoy the show.

If there's any specific demos you would like to see on the main site, please give us a sign.

That is a good idea. I will post a new thread so people can post video requests for the demo section. Then we can add demos by priority.

Thanks guys, I'll see if I can get Wit Premium a go in E-UAE.

The demo request thread is a good idea. I noticed there was a Budbrain movie on YouTube last night.

E-UAE doesn't natively support .DMS files. I'll have to see if I can find a DMS de-archiver (or just wait until my replacement internal floppy drive arrives for my 1200 and listen to it through my 1084 monitor...)

Anyway, I couldn't see Share and Enjoy's 1990 'Amazing Tunes II' music demo on Classic Amiga's demo section. That has got some corking tracks, from the Happy Mondays Step On rip-off 'Get Down Em' to Weapon's 1 and 2.

There are .lha files of the mods scattered around here (http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Amazing_Tunes_II).

Use XDMS for de-archiving the files.
