Here is something quite cool

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4SCSGRVAQE

Imagine if the developers of one of the SW games on the Amiga had managed to code the boot loader to load the game like that. :)

I bet the disk being used in that video wasn't very useful afterwards!

I have a complaint about that. It's labled the singing 1541 drive but it was using a 3 1/2" disk!!! That is no 1541 they are screwing up.

I think you misunderstood. The Star Wars one is in reponse to the singing 1541 drive video. If you click the 1541 link you will get the one for that drive.

I stand corrected. Sorry about that.

Great

I also always liked the sound of the 1541 drive, sometimes it made so much weird and loud noise that you had to fear your floppy disk would fall into pieces inside the drive itself.

You could always tell a Commodore from all others because whilst the rest were quietly reading and writing to their disks the Commodore machines were making themselves heard. :)

The C64 drives really did have you worried sometimes, Demon is right about that. It literally sounded like the disk was being chewed into little pieces in there!

I always found the noisiness of the C64 drive comforting as you always knew when it was still working.

That's like saying that the 360s RROD is a good sign as it means there ISN'T a power cut!

Or in a similar vain, the smoke that came from the overheating sky box I had once!
