View Full Version : Our old join date?

When i was registered as Nerdpower50 on the original forum, i took pride in being one of the very first registered users to the site, back in ye old forum days. Similarly, i was a member of Sws2b a very long time ago and then when they recreated the forum we had to rejoin.

On sws2b (Now SonicRetro) users were able to request our old rejoin dates and have them fixed for our new accounts. Would that be possible here?

Thanks,

Evan

This isn't something I had really thought about, but it is something I will consider if enough members are interested in having their accounts updated with their join dates rolled back to those from the original forum.

I wouldn't just update single user requests though because it would start giving some members join dates older than the site staff.

Hmm, that would be interesting, but how easy would it be?

Harrison

It would require me to go through the old forum membership list and then edit each member's profile on here changing their join date entry to the one from the old forum. So, quite easy to do, but time consuming.

How many people carried over the two sites? Must be about 20 regulars - it's something that'd be quite cool, as all the people that moved over have the same join date. Be better to see who the true originals are IMO.

(Mine shows up as 26-September 03, four and a half that have just flown by)

Feel free to change mine back. I believe it was March 2003.

:o 5 years!

Did you surf the net whilst sitting on your potty???;)

That's quite some time, Stephen, which demonstrates you are definitely a 'stayer'.

Good suggestion, Vangar!

Feel free to change mine as well.

Checked my join date in the old forum and it was the 22nd of May 2003. Nearly five years! :)

Mine's 15-January 03. Well and truely 5 years =P.

All of us from the old forum really love our Amigas, haha. Also after going back to the older site, i realised that we don't use the amiga mouse as the mouse on the forum anymore. I'd like to see that come back, what do you all think?

Don't know when I exactly joined anymore?

Harrison

You do now! I've just gone through and compared the membership lists from the old forum and updates everyone's join dates to match. :)

I hope I didn't miss anyone out. If I did please let me know and I will alter your date.

Now to a bigger question. What about post counts? Who would want those to be carried over? Or would you all just like to keep them as they are to show the true post count on this current forum?

Cursor? I'm guessing this means that the amiga style mouse pointer has returned to the forum and I am not seeing it.

As for post count, i would like mine to remain as it is.

Submeg

I think post counts should be the same

I think post counts should be the sameYes, same here.

As I see, I joined 1 day after Harrison.

Harrison
20th May 2008, 12:41
And that was only because I spend the first day setting the forum up, then the second day the invites for everyone else to join were made. :)

I bet some of you hadn't realised you had been on here so many years!

OK, I've now added a poll to this thread to see what everyone thinks about the post counts. Keeping the old forum and current forum post counts separate, or merging them together to create a grand total for both boards.

Stephen Coates

I'm not really bothered. I think it would be better to keep the old post counts on the old forum, as thats where the old posts are. But I'm not really bothered if my old post count gets added to this one.

Harrison

OK. Seems everyone is happy to keep the old post counts on the old forum. That's good as I thought the same. :)

Almost five and a half years allready. Time flies, that's for sure. :o

And as we can see, it's only the true elite that has been here since 2002. ;)

If I remember rightly I was here in 2002, but just not a member of the forum. Unfortunately I don't think I have all my emails from 2002 so can't check.

I see the GameFAQs forums is very empty. I do check it every year or so and currently there is only one topic. I have seen it busier than that.

I drop into the old GameFAQ Amiga forum from time to time, but being a US site it is hardly ever visited by real Amiga fans. More often it gets the odd kiddie trying to make a joke of asking "what is Amiga?" or the others claiming they own the Amiga forum because they found it first. Very immature.

I seem to remember you contacted me directly via email from the old classicamiga website to ask some questions about how to find some files. That was probably in 2002.

Stephen Coates

Yes, I did contact you via the site and we started talking a bit about web design.

That's how I was led to the site. I remember when Harrison started posting on the Amiga board. Seen on the PC general board too.
