I once found an ASCIImation on telnet, don't know if it still works, can't test it from here because of the proxy. It had a whole episode of Star Wars, I think Harrsion might still remember. Try it out:

telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl (if I'm right)

Marjeting. He was hoping that Jar Jar would appeal to the kids and therfore make shed loads of money. Instead he decided to use him as a plot forwarder.

Indeed. The browser url is http://towel.blinkenlights.nl/services.html#starwars

Once on that page, if you click the star wars link it will ask you permissions to open a telnet session. It is definitely worth watching as it is brilliant how well everything was achieved using ASCII.

Alternatively if you don't want the hassle of using Telnet to view it go to http://www.asciimation.co.nz/ and it plays using java in the webpage.

We all knew George had lost the force when he invented bloody Ewoks! Letting the guy go on to make 3 more films after that was just a big mistake. They should have locked him up before any Jar Jar like characters could escape his mind.

Yeah, just saw that it is accessible via URL, but telnet still works too. They now mention that if you wanna see it in color you have to use IPv6 found here (http://www.sixxs.net/). Did not test it though.

One thing I did notice is that if you watch it via the URL it is a bit stretched vertically, whereas the Telnet version is the correct ratio (the death star is round!).

I'm not seen the colour version. Will have to check that out! :)

They say that the IPv6 version has some extra scenes and color support.

Any idea how to get the IPv6 version to work? What do we need to do in order to watch it? I couldn't find much info on this.

Here (http://www.sixxs.net/faq/account/?faq=10steps) are 10 mini steps to get IPv6 running.

:hmmm: On second thoughts, this seems a lot of work just to view an ASCIIanim in colour! I don't really have the time to give this a try at the moment, and also don't really want to risk messing up one of my systems just to try it. I might give it a go on my Linux box when i do have some time though.

I hate to be the voice of dissention, but Jar Jar was, in fact, the MOST important character in the whole of the Star Wars universe. It was he, when put in a position of power, who was manipulated by Palpatine into calling for a vote to bestow upon him all emergency powers...

He may have been an 4ssh0l3, but he was the best use of an 4ssh0l3 seen outside a Swedish porn movie!!!

Jar Jar is a complete TOOL
