This looks interesting. A complete remake of the Bitmap Brothers game, Gods

It includes all of the original classic levels, complete and working, plus currently it also includes 2 extra full custom levels designed by the developer remaking this game. With the final goal being to include a full 4 level custom set.

Take a look and download from:

In addition to the main remake download, there is also a 52MB optional MP3 music pack download, which includes remixed title tunes and level tunes. Possibly worth downloading in itself for any fans of the original game.

UPDATE:

Features:

- true color display
- reworked graphics
- (trying to be) extremely faithful to the Amiga original levels
- powerful level editor
- advanced programming API for complex level design
- localized (french & english languages)

Requirements:

- Java Runtime 1.6 (6.0) is recommended
- Java Runtime 1.5 (5.0) also works but you cannot run the editor, and the game only works in windowed mode
- Windows or Linux (use .bat files on Windows, .sh files on Linux)

The screenshots look exactly the same as in the original amiga game. They haven't changed a lot, which is good, but sometimes I like to see some remakes that are actually pimped, like some from the Xbox Live or PS3 shop, like 1942 and Contra, which got a complete new redesign and look awesome.

True. But sometimes if the original is so good why alter it? The screenshots do look very faithful to the original, except that when compared side by side the remake is now using more colours instead of chequered pixels to create the illusion of more.

I've just run the remake and it has the option to run the game with original graphics, scaled 2X graphics, or Reworked Graphics, which I thought was quite a cool inclusion.

The remixed and updated music is quite good too, although I think I still prefer the original.

The aim of the remake was to re-create original levels first, and then create new levels, which is now done, with 2 new, custom-made levels, in order to relieve people from the frustration of only having 4 levels available since 17 years :)
Also there are a lot more colors and the graphics are retouched.

Thanks JOTD. And if you're THE JOTD then thanks for everything you've done for the Amiga community over the years.

Yes I am him. Why anyone would impersonate me ? :)

If its worth anything, Buleste like to impersonate himself on a regular basis.... or was that impregnate.... i dont know... that v85 chap has a funny accent ;)

@JOTD

Impressive work, did you get my PM ?

You've got that wrong. I try to impersonate a human every now again. Then i realise how low they are on the evolutionary ladder and become myself again.
