Floppy drive replacement project for Amiga 500, 1000, 2000, 2500, 3000, 1200, and 4000. Compile programs on your PC and upload them directly to the Amiga. Or boot up your floppy image disks on your Amiga from your PC's hard drive.

Krishna Software Inc. has developed a floppy drive simulator for your Amiga that lets you boot up your Amiga 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 1200, etc. with amiga image disks or your own amiga binaries on your PC's hard drive. MPDOS (multi-platform distributive operating system) Professional is a special control software that simulates peripherals on your Amiga using the PC's parallel port. It contains an integrated assembler for 680x0 which lets your write your own assembly language programs and directly upload them to your Amiga through the floppy port on your Amiga. No drivers are required on the amiga side. Your Amiga thinks it's reading from a physical floppy drive. Included with this are examples of using this interface including a complete multimedia CDROM that runs in a distributive environment to display 30+ hours of audio-visuals on your Amiga using hold-and-modify 4096 color mode. The assembler supports most of the 680x0 instruction set, but you can also use your own image files created by other means. It also lets you use raw MFM format disks directly (double density). The amiga treats the simulated drive as a read-only floppy disk drive. For more information, see our website: http://amiga.krishnasoft.com or http://www.krishnasoft.com/sps.htm.

The picture is the cable you will receive. One end goes into the parallel port of your PC and the other end goes into the internal floppy disk drive port of your Amiga. DF0: and DF1: will be simulated automatically on Amiga 500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 4000, and 1200. Other drives require a couple of jumpers to be installed but not required if you do not need DF2: or DF3. A fast parallel port is required since the throughput of old ISA-based parallel ports is too slow. Ask any questions regarding whether your computer's parallel port is fast enough or if you want to purchase a PCI-based parallel port add in card for your machine. Some laptops and desktops already contain a fast enough parallel port like the Toshiba 2545XCDT/4030CDT/4300, Dell GX110, Toshiba Tecra 8000,some models of Compaq Armada. We have some PCI-based parallel ports for your PC desktop in stock which will work with this simulator (add $9 to final price) or see my other auctions or email us for a complete working Amiga Floppy Server which can also be used as a normal Windows-based PC.

Shipping is flat rate of $5.95 to USA (48 contiguous states) and $9.95 elsewhere using USPS. For fedex ground to USA, add $7.

If you have two parallel ports in your computer, you can also use this cable in conjunction with a joystick/keyboard/mouse simulation cable to simulate disk drives, keyboards, mice, and joysticks for your Amiga computer. As a bonus, not only is the multimedia CDROM included ($30 value), a 6502 assembler and disassembler are also included so you can write code for your 6502-based machine as well. I am also throwing in a preliminary version of Amiga 1000 Kickstart that uses only 1 kilobyte of memory and allows your custom applications that do not call Kickstart functions to use the extra 255KB of RAM at location $F80000 as fast RAM; so now your 512K Amiga 1000 will have 767KB of memory for your custom applications uploaded via MPDOS.

MPDOS Pro with Amiga floppy simulation was tested with Tecra 8000 366Mhz laptop running Windows XP Professional and an Amiga 1000, Amiga 500, Amiga 2000, and Amiga 3000 using image disks of Kickstart 1.3 (for Amiga 1000) and various Workbench versions. It was also tested with following PCs-- Gateway 450Mhz w/PCI parallel card, Compaq Presario Desktop 500Mhz w/PCI parallel card, Dell GX110 desktop (using built-in parallel port), Toshiba Satellite 4300 laptop (using built-in parallel port), Toshiba 4030CDT, Compaq Armada 1120, and Toshiba 2545XCDT.
