Amigakit are now selling packs of 10 new Double Sided Double Density floppy disks, which come pre formatted as 880K Amiga disks.

They are not cheap at £3.99, but we all know that DD floppy disks are now becoming very hard to find, so if you need some for your Amiga at least they have some.

If I remember rightly, they have had DD disks for quite a long time.

I think I'll just see if i can get a big pack of them off ebay, but it is nice to know that they are avaliable from a normal shop as well.

Are DD disks still being manufactured at all?

It's just that Hyperion are including a floppy disk for the classic version of OS4, as this will be required for installing the OS, and it will have to be DD to work in the DD disk drives.

For duplication I wouldn't expect it to be too lard to source blank DD disks in bulk from a manufacturer. Even if most only still produce HD disks normally they should be able to switch to DD manufacturing for a bulk order. Not so easy for the general public though.

I just had a quick dig about online as I've wondered this myself if anyone is still making them and discovered that Imation still have "3.5" DS-DD IBM PC formatted" listed on their site.

UPDATE:

This US store is selling the Imation DS-DD Disks here (http://www.provantage.com/imation-3-5-ds-diskettes%7E22031358.htm). $5.45 for a 10 pack.

But! I've found something even better in the UK!!!

This store: http://www.sharewareplus.co.uk/pcp/Media_Supplies.html is selling a load of different makes of DD disks in different amounts. 50x Blue 3.5" DS/DD Floppy disks for £10.99 for one! 25x for £4.99, And even 10x Fuji branded disks for £4.99. :)

This store displayed is is a test store at the top when looking at the shopping cart, but I tested the order process up to entering your payment details and it all worked so I actually think it is working. So if you need some blank disks give it a go.

I also found an easy way to find disks in Google. Just search for "DS/DD diskettes". It seems to find them better than any other search.

Fantastic!

They even have neon coloured disks in their product list! I love those. Shame I don't have any of them. I did recently buy some coloured Imation disks though.

Whereabouts are the DD disks on Imation's site? I could only see HD ones.

I think I'll have to get some more coloured DD disks. The last ones I got were black, which messed up my strange colour coding system a bit, although I do have other methods of identifying the disks, so it isn't really a problem. I would have bought blue ones, but they were more expensive.

Imation didn't have the DD disks listed in their actual store, just in the project pages. But that other site I found seems good enough.
